TW: Misogyny, rape, death threats, transphobia

So you want to be associated with misogynists, rape apologists, rapists, transphobic people and people who send death threats at someone for daring to not hold the same idea of canon as them.

Nice.

I completely understand why warnings are a thing, but I don't really understand what the point of a warning is if the content basically consists of all of the words that you had to put in the warning. I kind of clicked expand out of curiosity about whether the content you warned for would be disturbingly lurid accounts of bronies being disgusting.

That said, IAWTC. Why.

As as someone who knows nothing about this fandom, what is with these comments? Can someone explain?

There is a group of bronies (inhabiting such lovely places as 4chan) who are, as anon said, misogynists, rapists and rape apologists (this happened...wish I were making it up but I'm not), and otherwise horrible people. They've threatened other fans, acted like the show was All About Them, drawn porn of Lauren Faust's ponysona (she's the show's creator) and done other really gross things.

There are lots of people who call themselves "bronies" and many have nothing to do with the vile ones, but there are those who like to lump everyone in with them anyway. Happens with virtually every label ever.

People should be aware of the nasty, though, and I wish the fandom as a whole, and fans of all genders, were more active in calling out and shaming the gross ones. Part of the problem though is that nobody likes to go to their shitholes, which is well enough for avoiding them and not enabling them to be shitty to people, but their reputation stands and spreads throughout fandom.

It's a frustrating situation.

:( That is so frustration and sad. Thank you for clarifying, by the way.

Not a problem.

I tend to not think about them as much because I stay the hell away from them. I wish there were something I could do without putting a lot of energy into becoming familiar with places on the internet I'd really rather not be.
