And I think it's ridiculous to judge someone's character and intelligence based on their sense of humour. Humour is subjective, and often linked to a person's upbringing and culture.

you're obviously beyond discussing things rationally, so...

I was going to say that humour and intelligence are, on a fair level, unrelated but then I saw that and started laughing really hard.

I like Family Guy, but it's... tiring. So very tiring between the parts that are either funny or emotionally moving. I can barely defend it in the slightest and I don't think McFarlane has much to do with the earnestly good moments.

nice try but no. it has much more to do with their intelligence and maturity level.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-06 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
that's poopy and you know it.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-06 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
i'm sorry? but that's just how it is. sense of humor does have a lot to do with intelligence, maturity, level of education and so forth. culture as well, but certainly you can't just blame your juvenile sense of humor on being american.

...

Do you think there might be a corrolation between high intelect and low sence of humor?

Like somthing silly that should have been taken as a dumb joke, just a low-brow groaner, just sailing under the head of somone who takes themselves too seriously?

Do you think a person such as this enjoys life less than the rest of us? Do you think it's appropriate to feel some pity for this kind of person?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-06 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, no... it doesn't. But you clearly only interact with people with the same humour as you, and judge others who have different tastes.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-06 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
it definitely does. but continue believing what you want, i really don't care. i don't judge people who like family guy. but you're right, i hardly ever associate with them as i find that we have very little in common.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-06 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Then you can hardly make sound judgements about their intelligence. Intelligence is far too complicated to judge based on tests, so how can you judge from a distance, without even interacting with them? One of the most intelligent people I've ever met loves Family Guy. He also loves Monty Python and horribly dark humour. All vastly different kinds of humour that both intelligent and stupid people can enjoy.
