You can write as a form of artistic expression, or craft a sellable story (and some talented storytellers combine the two). I think of it in terms of the difference between a Rembrandt and a Kinkade painting - both have their respective value, and if this author can crank out stories like generic paintings of dramatic lighthouses for profit, then that's her business. But I don't think anyone would hold up her works as examples of capital-L Literature, you know?
