Oh, OP. I'm so sorry. Being betrayed that way by a trusted friend is terrible and I'm so, so sorry it happened to you. *hugs*

I don't think you were being too clingy. Expecting a friend to treat you like a friend isn't clingy at all. I hate to say it, but it sounds like he was just pretending to be your friend while expecting to get in your pants, and then picking the other girl over you. It was probably either that, or his girlfriend was jealous and wanted him to dump you as a friend. I mean, I hope saying something like that doesn't make you feel worse or anything, but my point is it was him being a douche and not because of anything you did.
