1. OH GOD I REMEMBER THOSE BOOKS XD

7. I honestly thought Ephram/Madison, Tommy/Amy and Andy/Linda were gonna work out. >.> But then I fell in love with Amy/Ephram.

8. I'm surprised there's not a secret cache of T/P slash in the South Park fandom.

17. This isn't going to end well.

21. Repeat after me: Fandom is not a role model. Fictional animated/drawn series are not role models.

Well not really when it comes to younger kids. I mean, I'm sure there's plenty of kids who watched Cardcaptors or Pokemon and wanted to be like Sakura or Ash or Misty. Whether it's a cartoon or not has no bearing on whether a kid's gonna be influenced by it.

Well, then it's the parents' job to make sure they're not picking cartoons as role models, no matter how pure and driven the motives of Ash and Sakura are.

If children like Sakura (or any other character), they'll want to be like her and think it's pretty. Poor thing if they pick a slutty girl to like.

They will somehow think it's cool. It's complicated, parents may not have all that control over what kids think... I don't know.

I couldn't agree with you more. Thing is, I've seen a lot of parents who just use TV as a sort of babysitter, and then they blame whoever makes the shows in the first place rather than accepting they should of paid more attention to their kid.

But I don't get why cartoon characters, if they're not good ones, can't be seen as role models rather than so-and-so from this live-action show. When I was in the single figures I probably idolized those two characters mentioned and I turned out perfectly fine xD Of course, it's probably a lot healthier for fictious people to not be their only idols.

Uh but yeah. I shouldn't really be here discussing parenting based on my own speculation anyway xD

I don't know about Tommy/Amy - but yeah... The pairings in that show seemed quite more concrete than they ever turned out to be. I personally waited for Bright/Hannah since the day she told Amy that Bright was her ideal guy...... and never thought it was going to happen.

I still wish Ephram/Madison worked out, honestly. I thought that he'd finally gotten somewhere, when they got together. and Andy/Linda broke my heart, I'd had such high hopes for them, too....

Oh, word! Andy/Linda were the shit. I was so bummed that ended.
