Not the OP, but I understood the secret to mean that at least in yaoi there are two types of male characters, so that you don't have as much of a feeling of "the artist/author sees all women as falling into this category", and there are examples of characters who are the same gender, but behave in different ways.
(Not that I agree, but I think I know where they're coming from.)
