I honestly dont think Sasuke is a well written character at ALL. He's very two dimensional, and while a lot of the times you can claim 'oh, everyone in the series is' you cant with Naruto. There are characters like Shikamaru (Who I actually would place in the position you place Sasuke) who are REDICULOUSLY UNLIKEABLE in personality...and yet you cant help but like him (because he's so real, the humanity in him somehow makes him a good person through the crappy personality)

Compared, Sasuke is a flat, carbon copy character

I promised myself I wouldn't hijack this thread. Dammit.

Well, to me Sasuke is rather 'real' since he exhibits all the signs of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder that any person would reasonably have after witnessing some horrifically traumatic situations at a very young age. His flaws are not glossed over for the sake of making him traditionally inspirational, and I find him to be very well-written for what he brings to the series and the other characters in the way of development.

You have the right to feel the same way about Shikamaru, but that's a rather subjective take, isn't it? To others Sasuke may be as real and interesting for the same reasons. It's simply about respecting people who may actually enjoy his character. It doesn't mean everyone has to like him-- simply that taking in a little objectivity now and then can't hurt.

In sum, it is your estimation that Nara Shikamaru is a more well developed character than Uchiha Sasuke.

... okay.
