Periods

Question. My periods are very irregular, but I've noticed a slight pattern among them. Seems the more painful they are, the shorter they are. The less painful usually lasts a full 7-8 days whereas if I'm puking and curled up in pain and near tears then it can last as short as 2 days. Anyone else have a similar experience?

My periods are never on a set schedule. My last period only lasted two days, which isn't common for me. The one before that lasted six. I usually only get really bad cramps on the first day, and then it's fine the rest of the time. My two day period was really heavy, though, so that might be why it was shorter than normal.

Nope, when I'm not on the pill my cycle completely reverses.... by that I mean I will bleed horribly, and suffer anemia and terrible cramps for over three weeks out of four, have about 4 or 5 days where life it tolerable and then it all goes to hell again.

I have a similar situation, though probably not as severe. If it gets that bad, I suggest going to the doctor and getting on the pill to help regulate it.

Huh. Mine are usually the opposite. Maybe the shorter periods just mean your uterus is overworking itself to get done early? No clue.

I'm just pissed because as I've been lowering the dose on one of my regular medications, I've gotten seriously irregular for the past 3 months. I was regular for 3 years, then randomly early last year (while traveling, which I hear isn't uncommon but it had never happened to me before), then regular at that new earlier date for 4 months, then started changing my meds and got completely irregular. So now it's a mystery when I'm going to get it next! D:

YES THIS.

The ones where I'm able to function like a human being? 5 days.
The ones where I'm curled up in a ball of pain and wtf on the bathroom floor and couldn't leave if I wanted to? 2 days max.

Cannot wait until I have insurance again, getting a hysterectomy as soon as effing possible.

Hmm...I'm a bit opposite. My periods for the last few years have been pretty irregular. My last period didn't hurt too much. Maybe a bit of cramping but it was really light and lasted only about 3 days. Before that, I remember I had a period where it was really heavy, like I had to use two pads in fear of leakage and when I used the bathroom I had to clean the toilet every time I used it because SO MUCH RED EVERYWHERE, and I felt bloated and cramped like crazy. It lasted for probably 8 or 9 days.
