But where at 5"4' they'll never run into a guy shorter then them?

Rare in europe/north america, but common enough in east/south asia or wherever.

Huh, yeah good point. Even here in North America the shortest guy I know is 5'2".

But then... he's Asian.

Anon you were talking about

According to most of the sources I've found, people over 6'4" are something like 4% of the population in the US. That's pretty damn rare, especially for places without a large population.

I live in Wyoming. We have about 580,000 people here, or something like 6 people per square mile. :)

Idk, I lived in Japan for several years and though the guys are shorter in general, I would say I very rarely came across one who was under around 5'4"
