Marvel has 700 digital comics available for legal downloading over at Comixology and on its application. The offer lasts until the 12th! Sadly, for now, the servers are packed and it's really hard to access anything...

I've picked up Captain Marvel, Black Widow (written by Marjorie Liu), Avenger Babies, Young Avengers, X-23 and Saga (which is not Marvel but free anyway and I've heard so many good things that I want to give it a try).

So it's all the first issues of their comics? So basically it's a gimmick to get you to want to check out the rest of the series. Which is mostly fine (iTunes does something similar with free pilot episodes), but still..

I don't get the "but still". Exactly why should they offer anything else for free? Everyone benefits from this deal.

I was being a little snarky last night. I don't really have a problem with them only giving away the free issues. I think it was the way it was presented here "700 FREE Comics" - but then you figure out it's only the first editions of each one. Kind of a let down even if it makes total sense that they're not going to give away more than that for free.

I don't understand your problem with it tbh. they're giving out tons of free entire issues. there is literally no downside to this (in b4 someone tells me there's a downside)

I was being a little snarky last night. There is no downside if it does what it's intended to do, get people interested enough to by more and if they're interested they'll spend the money.

I think it was the way it was presented here "700 FREE Comics" - but then you figure out it's only the first editions of each one. Kind of a let down even if it makes total sense that they're not going to give away more than that for free.
