I only caught some of this episode on TV and I didn't think there was anything wrong with it. It was actually pretty adorable!

Besides, as a comedy, I don't think a lot of things on there should be taken terribly seriously.

re: your second sentence, this is something that most of this comm has yet to grasp.

I agree. It's so annoying when people complain about unsympathetic characters and karma houdinis in sitcoms.

God, I don't know. I remember watching Drake & Josh, and I couldn't get through the episodes because of their ridiculously horrible little sister.
cloud_riven: Close-up of an open-mouthed piglet! Is it recoiling? Or side-eyeing? Maybe saying, "HEY YOU TWO SHOULD KISS"? Mystery! (eeeeeeehhhhhh)

That's probably why it's a secret? Taking things seriously is kinda the basis for the comm.

Welcome to f!s :U

I think a lot of issues can be brushed under the rug using the "it's a comedy, don't take it so seriously" line. While yeah, it's all in good fun, it's still valid to point out issues.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-11 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
point out issues, yeah. Act like the characters are supposed to be perfect being whose every action we must totally support, when it's fairly clear that we're meant to see them as severely flawed people, no, and that's what people her always do.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-11 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Naw man, that's not what people here always do. I've been in a few discussions here on the topic, even on TBBT, and not everyone is like that. Sorry if your experience says otherwise, that's no fun for you.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-12 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
you're lucky then :/ I've always liked this show but I've learned to pretty much stay out of the comments on any BBT secret here because it invariably devolves into people complaining about how much they hate whatever characters are mentioned in the secret because of their issues that apparently they feel the writers intend us to see as positive attributes, when in fact they are meant to be recognized as flaws. I actually saw one person attempt to tell the comm that Sheldon's breaking into Penny's apartment to reorganize her stuff was meant to be insulting to Penny and that Sheldon was supposed to be considered good for doing it, when, uh, no.

Absolutely, but I think it varies.

Yeah F!S and ONTD take their hatred of TBBT very seriously. It's extremely serious business hating a 30 minute hit comedy show.
