I don't even know what that meme is, but that art is cute as hell.

The meme is usually part of a twofer -- with Sherlock as an otter, and John as a hedgehog. I know how they got Sherlock == Otter: someone posted a cute set of pictures with Cumberbatch/Sherlock making goofy faces and an otter making the same faces.

I'm not sure where they got John == Hedgehog, though.

It's things like the hedgehog meme that caused me to leave the fandom. I've sworn to watch Series 3 in peace without fannish squeeing (that at times I never understood) or rabid fans attacking...well, everything that isn't Sherlock at this point.

Yep, this one annoys me so much. I absolutely adore hedgehogs, and the Sherlock commentary underneath so many otherwise lovely pictures that show up on my dash bothers me.

Plus it makes no sense.

I clicked on the tag yesterday after telling off YET ANOTHER pressed stan who felt the need to tag their Elementary hate, and it was so aggressively twee and obnoxious. idk how anyone over the age of 16 can tolerate it.

I can't imagine what those two would look like fucking (the tv characters, not that chibi mess.)

I'm a hesitant part of the Sherlock fandom and I hate all its memes.

Anything involving Martin Freeman has been used to the point of exhaustion.

Red pants? More like porn of something I don't ship clogging my dash.

Not my division jokes are slowly making me loathe my favorite character.

And the whole Mycroft and cake thing pisses me off. A couple of comments that were made to show how RUDE Sherlock is to his brother, and suddenly it's cool to make constant fat jokes? How about no.

I like this show because of the story, the connection to the original canon, because of the drool-worthy cinematography, and yes, because of the pretty cast.

Not because Martin Freeman decided to put grapes on his eyes.

This art is adorable, but that meme is overplayed, yes.

I got away from Sherlock fandom long ago, not because of wank or anything, simply because I'd gotten tired of the constant memes and in-jokes.

I don't think these things shouldn't exist, I just wish they weren't so widespread.

One of the things I hate about all the Sherlock memes is that it makes the fandom so... newbie unfriendly. It's impossible to know what's going on in fandom unless you're already there and you know all the in jokes, which makes me kind of sad, because fandom is meant to be a place where you can be accepted/hang out with people simply from all just really liking the same thing. It's especially weird with Sherlock, given that they, unlike most fandoms, go on crusades to try to conquer/convert other parts of the internet.

I guess I have no soul too as well, I don't get it or find it funny. I just find it kind of odd really.

I don't really care because I TS most Sherlock stuff, but... I do love hedgehogs and I don't know how often I'll see a cute hedgehog photo/gif post and there's a bunch of comments going on about Martin Freeman and John Watson and stuff.

I just wish tumblr would stop taking non-fandom posts and making them about fandom all the time period, though.

Also otter posts with Sherlock/Cumberbatch comments. Nope.

Every Sherlock meme only makes me happier and happier that I watch the show but have stayed away from the fandom. So much of it is just unbearably twee and presupposes that you ship the characters, and all of it just makes me wonder if I somehow actually managed to watch a completely different show than everyone in the fandom.

This just in: different people like different things and somebody somewhere likes or dislikes something you don't. Holy hedgehogs, Batman! We'll have film at eleven.

(That being said, is it so hard to ask people to freaking tag their stuff?)

Yeah, me too. The art is adorable and I found the meme funny for about five minute but SWEET JESUS people go on and on about it on tumblr. I never want to be so into any fandom where I'm this insufferable and everything has to be about [insert fandom here].

I am part of the fandom, and a Johnlock shipper (and Mystrade, and yes...a little bit of Holmescest, if I'm being honest.) But I HATE how insane people get in his fandom! Like how the damn actors can't take a goofy picture with grapes without the fandom exploding! I stay away from the nuttier bits of the fandom and quietly ship my ships and talk to other sane people. It's more fun without the wank.

It's a little weird - because I'm new to Sherlock and don't use tumblr, I feel like there isn't much of a fandom and I forget that it's really big and really enthusiastic.

I'm fine with the hedgehogs - but I still get where you're coming from, OP! For some reason it's the otter meme that drives me up the wall. Mainly since I prefer Sherlock as a cat rather than some screeching playful thing.

too large fandom + too little source material + too much time between new material appearing = utter madness + endlessly repeated memes

my biggest gripe with it is that martin freeman looks absolutely nothing like a hedgehog

whoops, i thought we were supposed to think sherlock was the hedgehog. IDK why my mind thought that, but that art def read sherlock going wtf do you think i look/resemble/would appreciate a hedgehog

anywho, i still love the show but good god that fandom is insufferable.

I used to read Sherlock fanfics and I still watch fanmade videos on Youtube... but that's about it. I don't even dare to go on the Sherlock fandom on tumblr. I'll just keep on watching the show without going into the fandom too much.
