Howard is not more creepy than Amy. Every scene she is in is either lezzing out for Penny or trying to get Sheldon to do something physical he is uncomfortable with. Remember the boob massages she tricked him into doing? Flip that around and have a male trick a girl into rubbing his erogenous zones under false pretenses and you'd see a full on internet flame war.

Amy is way creepy. Even Howard was never that brazen.

yeah i love Amy so i wish some one would take her aside and tell her how creepy she's being. i can tell she has NO IDEA how to interact with people due to her past of just... never interacting with people. but that's no longer an excuse, it's been long enough and she should be able to handle it if some one calls her out on her shit

A creeper is a creeper, regardless of gender. She's a grown woman and capable of running a lab with staff (and of conning a Saudi Oil baron into having a relationship with her and funding said lab), which means she must know how to behave. That means she is doing all the creepy stuff not because she is sheltered, but because she is a creeper way beyond what Howard was.

The what?!? Oh, God, I'm so glad I took the advice of another F.S member and stopped watching before she came on the show. Are you serious?

Unfortunately it's true. :( But I must point out that Amy didn't use to be like that. At first she was supposed to be a female version of Sheldon and it was pretty clear from the way the writers were writing her character... but then something happened and they decided to make her this creepy sexual girl who wants her asexual boyfriend to have sex with her and it doesn't matter whether he agrees or not, she just wants physical contact of some kind and she tricks Sheldon into doing what she wants without even a glimpse of remorse.

They went as far as having Sheldon say that sex with Amy "is a possibility" in the future. Shamy fans are so excited about this (the comments on Tumblr the day after were quite clear) and I really can't understand why. If you ship Shamy, then you should be okay with your ship not having sex and you should be okay with the fact that this couple is obviously different from, say, Leonard/Penny, where sex does play a part in their relationship. Personally I don't ship Sheldon/Amy, but isn't the fact that they don't have sex what makes this couple interesting from all the other couples on tv? And now everyone just wants them to have sex. It's like everyone is just waiting patiently for Sheldon to "get rid of his asexuality" to satisfy Amy and the fans. That's not how it's supposed to work. But then again, this is TBBT, so why do I even bother.

Sorry about the rant, I sort of went on a tangent. But yes, be glad you stopped watching. They're completely screwing with their characters at this point, imo. :/

I agree with everything you've said. I used to ship Sheldon/Amy, but it's increasingly obvious that even if their personalities are more-or-less compatible, they are not sexually compatible in the slightest. Their relationship has been a trainwreck that is all the more painful to watch because it could have been so interesting. But instead it's just creepy and gross, and it really makes me sad, because I really wanted to like them together.

Yeah...I really hate what they did to Amy's character. She's not the same at all as when she first joined the show, and it's definitely shitty writing and not character development. She's just as annoying and disgusting now as Howard used to be.

Ugh. So glad I never watched this show again after the first episode. That is not okay.

That said, the reason why we'd see that flame war is that somebody would make a forum post or a blog entry or a tweet about it in the first place. A debate doesn't happen by people waiting around for somebody else to start it.

(Oh, and the reverse-gender version? Could totally have been played for laughs, romance or titillation until only a couple of decades ago, and several decades, if not centuries, if not millennia before then. I don't mean that in a "turnabout is fair play" kind of way, only in a "it wasn't always like that; people can change things" kind of way.)

I wrote about that a while back and some dumbass Shamy shipper said I was an idiot for thinking that whole ~romantic scene~ was creepy. I even pulled the table flip and she wrote it off.

Fucking Shamy shippers, ugh. They're worse than Lenny shippers.
