I actually often start finding characters more attractive after I start shipping them. Like, I might find a guy blah when I first watch a show or movie, but if I start really really shipping him with someone, he'll start to look less and less blah to me the harder I ship.

Same here! I've started to find actors attractive after starting to ship their characters. Not in the sense of having a crush on the actors themselves, necessarily (I don't connect actors to their roles much), but in terms of finding them physically attractive when I didn't before.
