I'm sort of on both sides on this one. I agree with OP, Howard was pretty creepy and sometimes I still wonder what Bernadette sees in him. On the other hand, didn't they have Howard say the "the reason I've changed is because of her" speech an episode or so before they got married? I think the writers have tried to give Howard some character development, but, because they're not very good at it, it was probably missed completely by the audience and they had to have the little speech to let you know it happened.

I don't think Howard is as creepy as he was before, but I wish the writers would show a little continuity with their writing. Like, sometimes Howard will be nice and sweet to Bernadette and other times he'll go back to being the Howard he was before he met her. I didn't like the Valentine's Day episode because Howard could not do one thing for Bernadette and could not stop playing Assassin's Creed for even 5 minutes to do something for his wife. Or there was an episode where Howard said something like, "If I could do this on my own, I wouldn't need you" to Bernadette in a sexual context and I really didn't like that.

Anyway, that's my opinion.
