Yeah, I can see how you might find it odd, but *shrug* 2D makes characters into dream-figures. Mewtwo seems less odd a choice than most other cutesy 'mons.

And as for the voice thing: Plenty of people *cough* find certain voices reduce them to (I hesitate to say "quivering" -- see #4) --- puddles of molten lust. I wouldn't have started writing fanfiction if not for Kenjiro Tsuda and Kaneto Shiozawa.

+1. Its stupid but some characters I just find so much more attractive or likeable due to their voice (voice acting playing into it as well). If I can't stand the voice, I generally can't stand the character.

For me, and especially with certain seiyuu,, it's all ... timbre, I guess, or harmonics. ~ Not understanding the language is a benefit, somehow, as taking in the words visually via subtitles ( or not even knowing the words at all) allows the sound of the voice to become condensed emotion. (To me opera works this way as well. ~ Now, I accept that some of those guys might not be considered "good" actors to native speakers. Perhaps if I understood Japanese or Italian I'd find them stilted or melodramatic ... but since I don't, I am free to luxuriate in the sound of their dark, velvety, arrogance.

Phew. Just talking about it gets me all tingly. I'll be in my bunk ....

He was always my favorite Pokemon, I can never understand why. His voice was certainly badass.

Your secret reminds me how much I hate it when people refer to Pokemon as "it" when they know damn well what gender "it" is. It doesn't help that those same Pokemon are clearly just as intelligent as any human character and they still get the same pronoun as a piece of furniture.

I mean, Mewtwo, Lugia and Lucario? They're very obviously male, they're just as sapient as any human, but it's still IT, IT, IT.
