I've never actually met a fan that makes any attempt to justify the slavery of the house-elves... most people seem to think it's awful.

lmao me neither, but I guess on fandomsecrets...? judging from comments anyway. I guess people are more willing to speak the virtues of house elf slavery on an anonymous board than maybe they would elsewhere.

Really? I've heard plenty of people justify it. Someone once got furious at me for saying Kreacher was Harry's slave. They said he was Harry's friend.

There's many people happy to blame the slave for slavery.
