I'm guessing that this is about censoring so this is drifting off-topic but a few weeks back I tried to use cunt in a Merlin fic and my brain literally said to me "you can't say that, it's a family show". I then had to remind myself that I was writing half-sibling incestuous dub-con loss of virginity sex. That shut me up. ~Cool story, self.

I realised fairly recently that I can quite easily write some pretty extreme guro, but I still feel a shiver of unease at typing the word "cunt".

I know where you're coming from, I can write pretty much any hardcore kink and it was only when I started writing Game Of Thrones fic that I felt comfortable using the word cunt. I think it's because after watching the show and reading the books, cunt is just so frequently used that it lost it's edge for me. But it's made writing fic easier because I plain refuse to use any form of flower metaphor for a vag. Just no.
