Ehm. You know, she was fifteen years old. I hardly think you can judge a flippin' fifteen-year-old schoolgirl for going about things in a totally facepalm-worthy and self-righteous way in pursuit of her goals when her mindset and motivations are highly admirable and show an impressive amount of integrity and compassion and strength of character in revolting against the "that's how it's done here" pressure to conform.

I mean, she's just a kid. She doesn't have any real power. She can't actually change the world until she's a hell of a lot more mature and has learned the hard way that people aren't going to listen to her just because she says so. So I think the fact that she was willing to go against everything wizarding society told her to stand up for what she believed in is 100000X more important than the fact that the way she stood up for it was pretty immature and narrow-minded. You have to start somewhere. You don't just magically become a perfect well-balanced experienced social activist overnight. You become a mature and thoughtful person through experience and trial and error and actually growing the fuck up.

I don't think that was supposed to be a tirade against Hermione? Of course she was fifteen and being dumb about it, the point is that part was used to illustrate the point that (insert privileged group) doesn't know better than (insert oppressed group) what's good for them and doesn't have the right to supercede their desires in the name of trying to help them

white man's burden etc etc

Yes, thank you. You explained that better than I could have.
