I don't think it's slut shaming. I think it's more people are tired of her always playing the victim and acting like she's twelve years old.

That and she uses her "boyfriends" as seemingly song material whether or not they want to be song material. It's the whole airing the dirty laundry thing that I think bothers people. Not the dating thing. But the, "you are only dating me because you need new song." Which is why someone like Michael J. Fox, who has a reputation of being a super nice guy in Hollywood, didn't want his son to be tangled with Swift. Not because he thought of her as a "slut" but because he didn't want his son's private life to be used for material.

Exactly. You can't treat people like that and not expect criticism.

Someone in her immediate family should pull her aside and tell her to quit using her dates as music fodder. It's just trashy and immature.

it wouldn't even bother me (and most people, i assume) if she was airing dirty laundry but not saying who it was about - lots of people write songs about their relationships. her quote about how people ridicule women for writing about her feelings or something was so ridiculous. look at adele for example, she pretty much wrote an entire album about a failed relationship and people loved it. the difference there is that adele didn't drop clues for who the songs were about in the album's liner notes.

Exactly this - it's such crass manipulation of her own life, purely for the sake of gossip. Why can't the songs speak for themselves?

I don't think Michael J. Fox actually said that? It was a joke that Tina Fey & Amy Poehler made at an awards show. Unless it's based on a real incident I don't know about.

During a book party for "The Good House" at Ann Leary's, Michael opened up about the possibility of Swift dating her son. Given Swift's reputation, Michael had immediately said no.

"No. No ... Just back off," said Michael, adding, "I don't keep up with it all. But Taylor Swift writes songs about everybody she goes out with, right? What a way to build a career."

Heh, that article sounds like he's CONFUSED about dealing with a stupid question (like, he probably didn't get the joke at the show & people have explained it to him.)

But gossip blogs try to turn it into a thing.

The thing I find weirdest about the Taylor stuff is how much attention
people pay to it. How do people have the energy? (Which, lol, I know, nobody in fandom should say that, but still...)
