Yeah, it bothers me too. There's plenty of things to make fun of her for, calling her a slut should be at the bottom of the list (I actually do like her though, for some reason. I think it was cemented when I read an article that said that Harry Styles complained she wasn't interested in sex and would rather talk about sex and go antiquing instead. I don't care if it's not true but I thought it was slightly endearing)

I had no idea whether it was about people slut-shaming Swift, or Swift placing herself in a different category from every other woman out there, then slut-shaming them.

The slut shaming is annoying, yes. You should be able to sleep with as many or as few people as you like without being labeled or judged.

Isn't her PR people the biggest slut-shamers of all though, in this situation?

Their first defensive maneuver to a new story is always "Oh she isn't that sort of person." Always making it out like she isn't actually sleeping with her boyfriends or whatever. I think if there was less of that ridiculous ~naive~ and ~innocent~ posturing on their part, people really would give less of a shit how many boyfriends she has.
Not to say that the shit comment she gets are okay or deserved in any way but they really need to cut it the fuck out.

I don't think it is slut-shaming. I don't think anyone would care if she slept around or dated around; I certainly don't. It's that all her relationships seem so calculated as PR moves, to get publicity and then provide fodder for her songs, and it's such a constant story to see in the press of Taylor Swift's new romance. It's just so easy to joke about. I think it's more about that than about it being somehow wrong for her to sleep around. It's the way she does it that's funny. I have a ton of respect for Taylor Swift, it's just a funny thing.

I am and always will be opposed to slut shaming of any kind, but I'm not sorry to say that after her latest Vanity Fair interview, I'm thoroughly done feeling sorry for Taylor when people call her out on her hypocrisy and make fun of it. "One of my favorite quotes is 'there's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women'" says the girl who sang "she's an actress, she's better known for the things that she does on the mattress". "I don't like to talk about my personal life" says the girl who has all but built her career on dropping hints about who her songs were about. And then she proceeds to give "a friend" a go-ahead to talk about her personal life anyway (lololololol).

Also, the desperation of her and her PR team after the "Haylor" stunt backfired majorly has been hilarious.

She doesn't get slut-shamed; she gets hypocrite-shamed.

She runs a PR campaign of "Oh I'm the sweetest nicest person ever" and then makes her money by fame-whoring out her exes, and publicly dissing them to create publicity buzz for her albums. Jesus, at least the Kardashians make you sign a waiver before they make your life part of their public money-grubbing drama, and don't pretend to be saints. She constantly is talking shit about those horrible "other women" who are slutty slut-sluts for daring to be around any man she has or might want, and again, makes her money by saying spiteful slut-shamey things in her songs, while herself hopping from boyfriend to boyfriend like they were safe-spots in some bizarre 'the floor is lava' game. On the whole she makes her living by saying mean things about people and then cries victim when anyone points out that she's not a very nice person herself.

Oh, and she went on about how she's like, totally not a feminist, because that's all just stupid "boys vs, girls" politics, but the minute Tina Fey makes the gentlest crack about her, it's all "there's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women." Really?

Slut-shamming is wrong, no matter who is doing it or whom it's being done to. Taylor shouldn't be slut-shamming other girls for dating or sleeping with multiple partners but that doesn't mean other people should be slut-shamming her for similar behavior. It's all a continuation of the same hurtful, hateful cycle that tells girls they shouldn't be allowed to date or have sex with multiple partners, despite the fact that their male peers are praised for doing the same exact thing.

I agree. It doesn't matter who or how many people she has dated. I don't get why so many people flip out over that, it's no reason to not like her.

Personally I dislike her because of how she calls out her ex's in her songs (it's extremely immature and rude) and acts like she could have never done anything wrong, ever. I also really hate all the slut shaming she does in her own songs. It's not okay to do, and frankly it's really gross.

I don't see much slut-shaming of her (though I'm sure it exists), what I come across more often is people criticizing her for needing to be in a relationship, promoting the idea that women need to have a boyfriend to be happy and fulfilled. I have to admit the revolving door of boyfriends is pretty ridiculous, it has nothing to do with sex IMO, she just comes off as clingy and immature and like she can't exist as an individual without being in a relationship. It's annoying but I suppose on some level I can't hate her for a personal failing like that, any more than I can hate someone for being an alcoholic or having some other personality flaw or something

As an aside, her music is fucking awful and the whole story of her rise to fame is hilarious (her parents are filthy rich; one is a hedge fund manager and the other is a banker, something like that, in any case they are both Wall Street people). The Wikipedia page on her is one of the funniest things I've ever read, it's like the most boring typical teenage girl in the universe decided one day that they wanted to be a singer/songwriter on a whim and it happened only because her family is richer than God and pulled the strings to put her there.
