I don't hate her because she "sleeps around" (I don't even know if she does). I dislike her because her music is a train wreck of self-pitying lyrics and encouragements to focus only on your ~feelings~ instead of on the actual situation and how it can be fixed and/or avoided in the future. Not only that, but she cultivates a very forced (read: not necessarily faked) girl-next-door persona that means that even my friends, 17, 18, and 19 years old, still buy into that message.

You are not a super special damsel in distress who deserves everyone's pity because someone made you sad. You are not inherently lovable just because you exist and "aren't like those other girls." You are a human being who, shocker, not everyone is going to like and sometimes those people who don't like you are boys who are going to break your heart. And yeah, that sucks, I've been there! But that doesn't make life an egocentric tragedy. It makes life...life.

There are plenty of reasons to dislike her and her music. People still shouldn't be calling her a slut.

By and large people aren't calling her a slut. They're calling her a hypocrite and a jerk.

That may be your perception, and it's obviously true in this thread, but I see a lot of people in other parts of the internet (don't read the comments, I know) saying plenty of derogatory, misogynistic things about how many guys she's been with and what she must be like in bed that all her relationships are short. You repeatedly telling people in this thread that that doesn't happen doesn't actually make it not happen.

Yeah, I've only heard her music in passing, but I could swear two or three of her songs distinctly say "I'm not like this other girl who is cheerleader-esque". It's so bizarre, considering that her normal persona is very much the preppy, pretty girl.
