Reading Zero History rn

....and it is THE FUNNIEST THING I HAVE READ IN FOREVER.

Unfortunately I am starting to wonder if the Sprawl trilogy that I was oh-so-serious about for so many years, was written in exactly the same perspective, I just didn't "get" that at the time. Alternately, it might just be the viewpoint character's own quirk/voice, and I missing the bigger picture.

What are you reading, F!S?

SO JEALOUS.

I am the worst rabid Gibson fan because I haven't read that yet. I saw him talk live last year and I love his sense of humour- he's the reason I joined twitter.

I am reading my signed copy of Telegraph Avenue (christmas present) and I am having the hardest time getting through it. I thought I loved Chabon's writing but it's like he's a parody of himself. Knowing nothing about oakland, blackspoitation, or records makes me feel like I need google open to understand half of what's going on.

I'm reading the third part of the third volume of The Red Wheel.

It is the dude's worst book, I think. The writing is laughable. Especially the erotic scenes. There's one scene where he describes it metaphorically, and it all consists of a wounded amazon riding her horse and then bleeding to death. I literally jumped up and ran laughing through my flat after reading this.

The historical research is incredibly detailed, though. It sure required a shitload of work.

Damn, when did that come out? I love Gibson. My b-day is coming up - yay!
*scurries off to make un-subtle suggestion*

I'm currently re-reading Brideshead Revisited and a couple of Dick Francis mysteries.

I am reading a bunch of different James Blaylock books (specifically The Last Coin, Land of Dreams, and Winter Tides), kind of just switching back and forth between them. I've been meaning to read Blaylock for a while, and these are the first books of his I've read. They're really good and enjoyable, and I like them a lot - they're a lot of fun.

It's also kind of the closest I've ever seen in book form to the way that I write. I don't know, it's hard to put a finger on it, but it's also weird.
