... I got slightly confused when you said 'type' as opposed to 'write'.

If you're talking about things like grammar and spelling and language, I would have gone with 'write'?

When you say 'type', I assume either there's some way to judge people based on typing like there is based on handwriting (font choice? spacing?), or that you mean watching someone mechanically type in RL (in which case, hunt'n'peck vs one-handed vs rapid-fire, etc)?

I don't know, something in my head says that 'type' just refers to the mechanical action, like handwriting with a pen, whereas the use of language falls under 'write' instead.

Just my two cents - I'm pretty sure OP was using 'type' for 'write'. I understand where you're coming from, but I've seen plenty of people do that and sometimes do it myself, even though 'write' does make more sense, yeah.

Yeah, I got that. It's just that the only times I've had someone complain about my typing, it was because they were sitting beside me going 'slow the hell down, you wouldn't have to backspace so much if you just took your time to start with'. So I was confused for a second because, well, how could they know how someone's typing via the internet?

And then I caught on. It just took me a minute because my brain is of the opinion that typing is physical, writing is language? I don't know.

Yeah, it makes sense. I guess it's just another one of those imprecise things that have made it into language use.

(Also, I totally get that with the backspacing too, haha. It's frustrating to type slowly, though.)

You don't type on your computer? Which then means that something I have written on my computer and then posted, isn't typed? confused

which one of my English teachers do I have to send a strongly worded letter to?

No, it is typed. I just got confused because typing to me is just the mechanical action, so ... It seemed like judging someone's content based on their handwriting? Except weirder, because you can't actually tell how someone physically types via the internet (unless they're visibly drunk-typing), so I got confused.
