I...sort of agree? I mean, he's got his right to decide whatever about people who like that, and I can see where it'd freak someone out. What I do agree with is more getting tired of comparing things that squick them to mental illness/"oh noes! The crazzzzy!" - but that's not just in fandom/fandom related that I'm tired of that so. -shrugs-
