+1, mine too. It's gotten to the point where I don't really watch much current Doctor Who because I know it'll disappoint me. Though occasionally I go "maybe I'll like it..." and get disappointed.

Your last sentence is exactly right; a lot of what he does has a lot of potential, but just falls flat. This is how I felt about River Song, mainly. I WISH I loved her, because she had a lot of cool potential; badass time traveling archaeologist? Sign me up! But then gradually her character began to revolve more and more around the Doctor and become more and more problematic. Which is sad, because I wanted to love her.
