Believe it or not, some people actually like being alone. I don't have anxiety or panic attacks when I do interact with people, but on average, I am very content to just spend the day with myself. In fact, sometimes I feel like I NEED to be alone. I'm a happy person and have no trouble with this lifestyle. The only time I start feeling bad about it is when other people insist that my behavior is 'unhealthy' and I should really get out more.

^This. I mean, I still go to school and interact normally with people but I really prefer to be alone.

Lots of people (like some people replying to this secret) are acting like it's such a terrible thing. As long as I'm keeping up with my real life responsibilities it's really not anyones damn business how introverted me or anyone else is.

If you want to call say the tumblr community 'romanticizes' antisocial behavior, then whatever. If you ask me life is too short to put yourself in situations that make you uncomfortable. If people feel at ease and like there are other people like them on tumblr, then that's a good thing in my book.

Like I said, not everyone on tumblr is just spending their whole life on tumblr. There are popular posts that exaggerate stuff because it's funny and relatable, but the majority of people I've interacted with on tumblr go to school, have jobs, and talk about their real life problems... while tumblr is an escape where you can enjoy your fandom and the special tumblr brand of humor.

AYRT. You put what I was thinking into words I wasn't able to. I really wish the whole idea of you can only be happy if you're sociable would just go away. I understand if you have a crippling fear of interacting with people then yeah, probably a good idea to work on that, but people who just don't want to be around other people because they just don't... I don't understand why in this day an age people still feel it's unhealthy. Isn't it more unhealthy to stress yourself out by putting yourself into situations where you're unhappy? I don't know. I was surprised by the number of people replying to this secret basically saying that if you're an introvert you're automatically unhappy and need to spend more time with people.

This so much. I am currently feeling pretty stressed out because two 'friends' from work are wanting to meet up this weekend and I really don't want to go, but I feel like I have to think of excuses along the lines of faking illness because I don't want to go, and just saying "well I don't really feel like it" is considered weird and unhealthy.

Indeed. I have no problems interacting with people, I pretty much talk with strangers 5 hours every day because of my work... etc. However, I'm an introvert. That isn't a synonym for antisocial btw like some people think. It just means that I relax best by being alone. I actually NEED it. It's the way for me to "power up my batteries". I actually get exhausted if I need to be with my friends for 48 hours or something.
I actually LIKE to spend Friday night alone reading a book. Boy was that considered weird when I was younger. The society makes us think it's more normal behavior to go out with a bunch of people, get piss drunk and have sex with a random guy/girl. I know that's a bit exaggerated way to say it but it's pretty true.
