In retrospect, that poster was initially more polite about it than I remembered. The thread itself just got very wanky, and the politeness...slipped.
And can I say I love you a bit? There's manipulative and then there's common sense.
Same reason it boggles me when people scream at customer-service reps on the phone who A) Have done nothing to wrong them personally and B) Would probably go the extra mile to resolve the problem if they were polite.
