I wasn't really in fandom at that age nor have I ever lied about my age but I feel like a lot of people do, so this was kind of my reaction too.

Not that I'm condoning it, just...it's not exactly rare

Man, I'm pretty sure this is not legitimate, but. Whenever I see some 13 or 14 year old or w/e posting around in fandom or on whatever nerd-internet places, I always kind of want to be like... "You shouldn't be posting here! Go enjoy your youth! This is not the place for you."

Well, being in fandom never interfered with my youth. I'd had damn good time anyway.

I suppose the alternative is that you could be an annoying preteen blasting pop music and giggling in a flock of your peers in public places, so...eh.

Honey, every single person on this site has lied about their age online, somewhere, at some point. You are not unique, except in the sense that you actually think you are.

I am mentally 13-years old. That probably counts.

I've always been curious about the consequences should a minor misrepresent their age and their parental units catch them looking at/reading mature content, is the author/artist of said mature content legally accountable? Could the parents charge/sue the author/artist? Anyone? Canadian here.

I did the same thing so I could access a lot of journals/comms that had that mature filter on. There are a lot of anime and video game communities that had it in case of smutty fics being posted - and even then, those would still be under a cut.

Honestly though, if you aren't going around deceiving people so you can RP in sex games, participate in smutty fic, and doing anything that can harm anyone else by your lying, then I see no real problem. I just hope you're being responsible!

I read my first PWP when I was 13. And yet I still managed to become an upstanding member of society (LOL) and not a bum/alcoholic/drug addict/sex addict/porn addict/porn star/prostitute/involved in a three/foursome/a sexual deviant/whatever else they say people who experience porn when they're young are likely to become.

I even manage to have healthy relationships. Who would have thought?

I was having sex at 13, and watching porn, drinking and smoking, still managed to turn into a normal member of society. Though OP, don't tell anyone that you aren't 18, we like to pretend everyone on the internet is over 18!

I now realize I had a more exciting life at 13 than I do now at 22...

Yeah? Well on Naruto Forums, I claimed it was my 18th birthday when it was actually my 12th. And I requested, and gained, access to the 18+ subforum.

They never suspected a thing, mostly because everybody there was so stupid and immature for "18+" that I fit right in.
