Aw, on the bright side at least you didn't break any rules? (At least of that nature.)

On the bright side I avoided the phase where I would have posted my OCs for everyone to see or where I would have had a public bitchfit over my OTP, so I'd say that all in all I'm happy with the outcome.

Ah yes, that is good indeed. I'm just happy I was such a lurker at that age that no matter what I thought I at least kept the stupid opinions to myself.

The internet was JUST starting out for me. I remember being 11, getting AOL and my dad screaming at me "FOR FUCKS SAKE GET OFF THE INTERNET I NEED THE PHONE!"

I wasn't really in fandom at that age nor have I ever lied about my age but I feel like a lot of people do, so this was kind of my reaction too.

Not that I'm condoning it, just...it's not exactly rare

Yeah, I get you. Seriously, I'm surprised sites don't try harder to confirm your real age.

How would they do that, exactly?

Not sure. I just haven't come across anything other than, "state the year you were born" and they've been using that since I was underage. I just guess I assumed since everyone knows how bad it is at keeping underage people out that the site owners would try something else.
