Maybe I missed the glory days of it, but I LOVE The Cirque Du Freak books. They're scary and sad more often than not, and violent, and surprisingly endearing

The movie isn't too shabby, but...the books!

Oh man, I remember getting partway through that series. I used to really love it! One of my middle school teachers introduced it to me.

My personal favorite is #5 and I think #10, but there are a few bits of filler in the form of 6 and 7, but It's still enjoyable.
