I actually don't know much about basketball, I'm more of an association football person. I know like the barest minimum of basketball rules (you have to get the ball into the basket, and if you throw the ball in from very far, you get 3 points), but I still read the manga for the sports. I don't know a thing about baseball, but I still read Diamond no Ace, I didn't know a thing about American football when I read Eyeshield 21. Because sports series are not about perfect knowledge of rules, they are about excitement, team spirit, determination, friendship, and the will to follow one's dreams. And sports series have all these things, there is much more to them than 'cute boys'. So I judge you right back for dismissing people like me who actually do read it for reasons other than eye-candy.

OP:

I agree that sports series aren't about "perfect knowledge of rules" but these are BASICS. I'm just utterly baffled as to why one would write a series about BASKETBALL without knowing the BASICS. Basics you can learn from watching ONE basketball game.

Also what meant by cute boys is more like relationship dynamics anyways rather than "eye-candy" since lots of fangirls get into sports series for the relationships. (don't get me started on how piss-poor and forced the relationships in this series is tho)

Well, maybe the author didn't want to be tied down by the rules and didn't use all those complicated things so that they would not get in the way of the story? XD I don't know why, and it doesn't bother me (since I don't really know basketball rules in the first place) - it is still an interesting story, the lack of rules of the game does not change anything about it. Well, maybe it does spoil the series for you if you know the actual game that well, but it doesn't change anything for me.

And I think you are letting your feelings about the series get in the way of your judgement because I don't see how the relationships are forced - it's not like people on teams don't befriend each other, it's not like there is no friendship or rivalry irl, so I think the relationships are very realistic in the series.
