I feel you.

Honestly I thought when I watched Community Troy/Abed was gonna be HUGE. . .when I found out otherwise, that the main pairing is Jeff/Annie who I don't really care for. . .disappointment to be sure.

There are less than 200 fics for it that have ever been written, and of the stories written in 2013 this far more than a third of them have been written by me.

I know every person who frequently talks about it on tumblr by either username or first name basis. If you're looking at my tumblr, you're basically looking at every single thing that's being created or talked about in the Troy/Abed portion of the fandom. Mostly it's just me and a handful of other people who do the chatting :P

I think lots of people casually ship it but the active part of the fandom for us is very small.

Curiously enough, OP of this secret is one of those casual shippers. I stopped watching the show half-way through S3 but remember it fondly, mostly for those two characters and all the glorious fic written of them (especially for the Yuletide challenge).

YOU HAVEN'T READ ADVANCED AMBULATORY ICHTHYOLOGY.

After season 3 gyzym wrote like a Troy/Abed novel that brought more popularity to the ship-it's recced everywhere. You should read it!

I really thought it was bigger than that, but then again I am one of those casual Community shippers. I go where the show wants me to go really, except I prefer Britta/Jeff over Britta/Troy.

I thought Troy/Abed was gonna be a main canon pairing at some point when I first started watching the show, at least after Epidemiology :P I didn't think I'd ever stan for a non-canon OTP.

It sort of is. But not when you compare it to Jeff/Annie or Jeff/Britta HA HA HA NO IT'S NOOOOOT \:D/

Yeah. The fandom for it is bigger than for other ships, but that doesn't mean it's large. I thought the ship would be at least as big as Jeff/Annie, if not LARGER because I mean the amount of ship bait. . .I had someone describe it to me the other day as a "gift wrapped package of everything slashers love." But. . .nope. Despite the fact that we have more ship bait than pretty much every other pairing, we neither get canon nor a big fandom :P

I want to say it's relatively small because they lack ust and subtext, because in show the characters are comfortable enough with the close relationship they have and its outright text (yep, they're in love, platonic or romantic idc THEY'RE SOUL MATES), but it's not like that's stopped fandoms from growing around canon and established pairings before.
