Re: Moves you loved, that everyone else laughed at.
A lot of critics slammed that movie and my friends all thought it was vastly inferior to the first one. It has one star on Rotten Tomatoes. These people are all entirely wrong, because they fail to understand what those movies are actually about.
The first movie is not really an action hero movie. It's a dad fantasy where he is totally proven right about what happens if you don't remember to text as soon as you get in. It's a great big 'I told you so' dad catharsis. But it's okay, because in this universe the dad is a superhero and can kill all the people.
The second movie is exactly the same only better, because this time all he's trying to do is get her to concentrate on learning to drive because this is an important life skill and she'll regret it if she still has to get a ride everywhere when she's eighteen. But it's okay, because in this universe the dad is a superhero and can teach her to drive stick around the narrow alleyways of a city while shooting people. That whole movie is about being taught to drive by an overbearing father. Everything else is irrelevant. And it is awesome.
