...I think it says a lot about you that you think that just because a fic is serious then it must be "pretentious bullshit". Guess what? Fanfic comes in all varieties, even when the fandom doesn't match the style. I've read all types of Hetalia fic and have found gems in all genres; shippy, crack, dark, funny, fluffy, and yes, even the "pretentious bullshit" serious ones.

If you notice, whilst Hetalia does tend towards the fun side, it does also have serious sides to it too (America's Storage Cleaning). So to say that serious stuff isn't staying true to the original is just stupid.
