Come join the Madoka Magica fandom if you're into anime, OP. Cute f/f art everywhere.

It's not a tumblr thing, though. It's just...a fandom thing. Tumblr is a fandom hub right now, so it gets more of the attention, but it didn't cause it.

Fortunately, there are plenty of people who ship and let ship, just the ones you describe tend to be louder when you've found them.
