Tumblr is vapid. Ridiculously vapid. But toxic is a case by case basis.

Yeah so far I've found tumblr more vapid than toxic, but in general I think whether your fandom experience is toxic or not pretty much depends on who you follow. If you follow wanky people then it shouldn't be that big of a shock that most of what you experience in fandom is the wank and I think that includes live journal etc.
