I can kind of see this one. In the sense that it all applies to skill at cosplay--all of the best cosplayers I've ever seen have worked with their body type, whatever it is. The best Sailor Moon group I ever saw were all very plus-sized girls and they looked wonderful. It comes down to making a costume you can pull off. You may have to make some adjustments to it fits properly and looks flattering, and honestly, that should be considered one of the basics of cosplay. Because most of these costumes are based on drawings anyway, so recreating it down to the last detail is just Not Going To Happen.

It's sort of one of those fashion-ish things. You can look good at any size if you know how to clothe and hold yourself.
