I disagree with the statement that they're nothing special, but I do kind of wonder why everyone has to pretend they're obsessed with the Beatles these days. I know some people aren't faking but it's pretty obvious that many are.

I swear I have just seen somebody in their early 40s complaining that kids these days don't appreciate the Beatles.

Sure, I just think it's interesting that theere are older peopel who assume young people don't know about the Beatles and younger people who feel like they are expected to pretend they are obsessed with them...

If they're in their early 40s, they're hardly an Original Beatles Fan (or is that the point and it's funny they were saying this?)

Yes, that was part of it -- the whole thing was weird. I mean, it makes a little sense b/c there was major 60s nostalgia in the 80s and 90s, but these days there's a ton of Beatles stuff available and I'm sure there are new fans every generation.
