Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
I'm so excited!
Stephen Colbert's question was probably the best part tbh, though all the clips from the filming were amazing!
I was disappointed that Richard Armitage and Martin Freeman didn't make appearances, but all the other guests were great and it was definitely an hour (or so) well spent! I just wish there had been a true trailer, but I guess that's expecting too much considering the bits of footage.
If you didn't get to watch and are interested, def keep an eye out. I imagine the whole thing will be available soon enough.
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
Sad to hear that Richard didn't bless the hour with his presence. I wish I had seen the sneak peek :( Were the dwarves all lovely and hilarious as usual?
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
When you buy the film on Blu-Ray (it might be DVD too) you get a code you input online to watch the footage. It was a live event but there will be a modified version up on the website so people with the code can watch it again. (Up to three times.)
And Stephen is on a break, but Peter Jackson was answering questions (from fans and his own actors) and Stephen sent one in. :p It's probably already on tumblr.
It was mostly Peter and Jed Brophy (Nori), but Luke Evans (Bard), Orlando Bloom (Legolas), Lee Pace (Thranduil), Stephen Fry (Master of Laketown) and some others made appearances.
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
Stephen is such a super fan of the movies and books I love it ♥
Thanks for the info!
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
No problem!

I AM EXCITED.
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
The only complaint I have is that there wasn't enough footage of the dwarves or Bilbo, but that will come later and they had the whole first film so I'm just being picky. I JUST LOVE THE DWARVES A LOT.
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
(Anonymous) 2013-03-24 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)Plus: Thorin and Thranduil sass off.
(DWARVES! The subtitles should be "An Unexpected love for a dozen of dwarves", really)
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
And we just know this film is the last happy stretch before the next one and its three hours of despair and ugly crying, isn't it?
And considering what goes down in Mirkwood...this won't be all that happy either. At least Beorn's should be fun, right? I want some adorable giggly moments before all the death and destruction.
Plus: Thorin and Thranduil sass off.
Yessssssssss. It's going to be glorious.
(That would be a great way to subtitle the trilogy. Very informative.)
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
(Anonymous) 2013-03-24 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)Ah yes. I expect much panicking and angst and giant spiders and brothers getting separated. But! Beorn. I'm all for the giggly moments. Give me ALL of the giggly moments before you make me shed enough water to fill a small lake, Peter Jackson!
Thorin and Thranduil... Thranduil, he had to bow to Thrain and to Thorin by association. Now? Now Thorin is half-starved, poor and running towards a suicide mission with old warriors and children. Thranduil is still a king. But one who's seeing his kingdom fall apart and sees him as a threat. So much bad blood between them, I can see the passive-agressive sass off from here. And I do love how Thorin acts like a kid forced to eat Brussels sprouts whenever elves are brought up.

This made me laugh because IT'S SO TRUE. The fandom after the films release is going to be a wreck. Not sure if it'll be miserable or comforting to have so many other people feel our pain.
They're both stubborn asses tbh, but that's what makes it so fun. The mutual hatred they have going on is going to make things very interesting. (And hot. I'm sorry but Thranduil getting all up in Thorin's face...UNF. I don't ship it, but the anger is delicious. And so agreed about Thorin and elves; we're gonna be seeing a lot more of that this film.
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
(Anonymous) 2013-03-25 12:08 am (UTC)(link)I'm thinking, post-Reichenbach Sherlock fandom, except with more pain, because no one is coming back. Soo... miserable AND comforted? At least we'll be able to pass around tissues.
And yes, UNF. I don't ship it at all, but that tension is delicious. All that majesty in one place, I can taste it and it tastes like rainbows.
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
Ouch, Sherlock fandom? So basically you won't be able to go anywhere without seeing death scenes and crying faces?... Sounds right up my alley, tbh.
Rainbows and cotton candy!
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
Also, Lee Pace, you are so damn tall.
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
It's pretty great.
When I heard he was set to play Thranduil, I was skeptical that he wouldn't have the face for it, but he sells it really well.
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
True. He's had so few scenes but everyone already enjoys the character. Plus, the new footage is way more interesting than anything we've seen of him yet. I was impressed.
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
I love corgis so much~

How are we going to wait till December? HOW?
At least we'll be getting more production diaries!
(The Thranduil bits pleased me more than expected. What can I say...I'm a sucker for hot, angry men.)
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
(Anonymous) 2013-03-25 04:02 am (UTC)(link)I QUESTION THIS ON A DAILY BASIS. I ALSO QUESTION HOW I DID THIS TEN YEARS AGO, HOW DID I NOT GO STIR CRAZY WAITING FOR THE NEXT FILM?
Ohh yus, I am looking forward to the production diaries and the special features on the DvD/Blu-ray though I have to wait over a week to get my copy. :<
(I am highly looking forward to Mr.Douche McDoucherson being all up himself and angry
at Thorin, and seeing more Lee Pace in general because I just started watching Pushing Daisies and AMG I love it(and him).)Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
Haha, truer words!
Right? You think it would be easier now because we have experience with it, BUT NOPE!
:( Sorry, that sucks. I have my copy but can't watch the special features yet. Just think of how glorious it'll be when we do though! I'm hoping for fantastic commentaries. Hopefully we won't have to wait for the extended editions for fantastic commentaries.
(I should really watch Pushing Daisies... Lee Pace is a good looking guy and it looks interesting. Mr.Douche McDoucherson *cackle* Thranduil is a dick but so is Thorin and it's gonna be amazing. SIMPLY AMAZING. Those two need to have a dance off.)
Re: Did anyone else watch the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sneak peek? (spoilers for guests)
(Anonymous) 2013-03-25 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)Oh I'm hoping there will be at least some of the awesome bonus features on the Blu-ray, we wont get all of the behind the scenes bits but we should get something to tie us over until they release the extended version. I swear I feel like bloody Gollum with these films right now. We wantsss it~
(Pushing Daisies is wonderful and if it is on your watch list I would highly recommend it. :) I for one am looking forward to the Thorin and Thranduil dick off.)
