Re: Useful words with bad/unhelpful connotations.
(Anonymous) 2013-03-24 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)The internet seems to think it means "I know your feelings better than you do." You say you're not a misogynist? Nope, you are, you just don't know it because it's internalized. Now examine your psyche until you find a way to admit to it, and until you do, you're wrong.

Re: Useful words with bad/unhelpful connotations.
(Anonymous) 2013-03-25 02:06 am (UTC)(link)I think it's extrapolated from that. A woman can still be a misogynist, therefore if a woman says something that could be construed as misogynistic, she obviously has internalized misogyny. And while this may hold true sometimes, it's also just as likely that the thing she said wasn't misogynistic at all. I think I've also seen arguments here and there that trans guys are "just" suffering from internalized misogyny and if they just examined that, they wouldn't hate being a woman so much! (Spoiler: this is utter bullshit.)
Re: Useful words with bad/unhelpful connotations.
Yuck. Yeah, I've heard of that line of reasoning too . It's really just standard transphobia dressed up in bad psychology. :(
