Re: my housemate takes ridiculously long showers every day

Reading the comments, I get that people's hair and skin are different, but even for anyone who has to shower every single day - is 1 - 1.5 hours really necessary? After shampooing, conditioning, shaving, scrubbing etc. I'd run out of things to do in the shower after like half an hour.

I know, I know, that's just me, but OP's housemate's showers still seem excessive.

1.5 hours is longer then I would typically be in a shower, but I could totally see myself in there for an hour.

I believe OP mentioned she had long hair, and hair of length and certain texture can take a long time to wash. My hair is not that long and it takes some time to wash everything out just because of my hair texture.

If you add shaving and washing it's easy for me to be 30-45 minutes.

If I haven't shaved in a while I could probably easily do 1.5 hours actually, but I am very tall and very hairy.

That makes sense if you don't shave daily, sure. But every day like OP's housemate still seems excessive.

my god, pray that you never live in a place that gets serious droughts. most people in the world cannot imagine pouring a 100-200 gallons of potable water down the drain every day.

It's really bad to wash your hair daily if it's thick or curly. I speak as someone with thick and curly hair and I have had every hairdresser in the world tell me this. Any website about hair will point this out. IT'S BAD FOR YOUR HAIR.

It takes like five minutes max to wash your whole body with soap and rinse it off.

da

I live with water restrictions, so I can only dream of showers that long

/wistfully day dreams and feels bad over 10-15min showers

IKR? I tried and failed to whittle my shower time down to 15 minutes a day, and have always felt sad about my spendthrift water use, so I can't imagine showering for an hour and a half. Especially with the drought we're bound to have again this summer. I'll probably end up alternating with bucket baths--you really can get pretty clean in under 12 gallons of water.

Central Texas is in a drought and we're supposed to be on water restrictions but it's not to the point where nobody is allowed to take daily showers (I don't know if that's ever on any of the water restriction levels -- but it should be)

My hair is only shoulder-length and it takes me about 30 minutes to shampoo and condition it. Add in any scrubbing, shaving, etc. and my showers end up taking about 45 minutes.
