I suggest you use your personal network to find law enforcement professionals to talk with. Particularly if one of them has a similar personality to yours. You might not do well on the street or patrolling, but surely there are other ways you could work in law enforcement. There's always a chance that a friend of a friend or family member might know someone.

If you haven't already, try reading up on the net, maybe finding professional police communities or forums and lurking for a while. See what you can find out. Also look at any police or detective documentaries. While not completely free of Hollywood's artistic license, they'd likely be more accurate than most fictional films.

Hmm honestly I have been quiet about pursuing this career, but this is an idea to consider! There's actually a local police station just 5 minutes away from my house actually! Though I thought it was rude to just turn up and ask about jobs when the city's own website wasn't advertising any volunteer jobs.

I never considered watching documentaries, but that'd be good to look up too!
