Well, they're sort of the One Direction of their day. I mean, they were a little more groundbreaking, but basically they were pretty boys who made stuff that sounded nice and that was about the limit of their talent. I've never understood Beatlemania either.

Um, no. The Beatles were nothing like One Direction. Not only did they all play their own instruments, they wrote all their own songs and worked incredibly hard to achieve what they did. They did so much for the world both in terms of music and culture that it's ridiculous.

To really appreciate them you need to listen to their albums rather than just their most popular songs.

The Beatles were popular the way One Direction is. The similarity stops there.

I am sympathetic to people who don't love their music, but Lennon and McCartney at least were/are gifted song writers and musicians. As far as I can tell, at least two of the members of 1D can't even sing.

It is actually laughable to compare a boy band who just sings to one who wrote, arranged, and performed their own ground breaking music for decades.

Kinda hoping you're a troll. But if not ... um, get back to me once 1D starts writing music that's as weird and creative as ANY of The Beatles' later music.
