From another anon, who hates Killian Jones but appreciates that Colin is pretty and a talented actor: thank you. You've given me a tiny smidgen of hope that it won't happen, even if I think Kitniss and Horowitz are both pushing for Regina's redemption. The Hook fans I don't get are the ones that think he's a misunderstood woobie-candidate. I mean, Rumpelstiltskin and Regina I can kind of see woobie potential for. But unless they pull out the patented "my tragic backstory made me do it" script for him too, I can't see it. He was an asshole when he first showed up on the show and he still is. The only equal relationship he had with a woman was with Milah, and she's still the only person I ship him with, because he tried to sacrifice himself for her and she for him. But they were pirates together. People who stole and killed to get what they wanted. Even if they loved each other, they were like Rumpelstiltskin and Cora would have been; they brought out the worst in each other, and loved each other for it.

Your last line makes a very interesting comparison, and I thank you for it.

Agreed with the rest of what you said as well. Even taking Hook's actions against his enemies out of the equation, you have things like him shoving the crippled old man that he thought Rum was, or hitting an already-captive woman who posed no threat to him.

He's pretty, sure. (Frankly, he's the only male on the show who I do think is hot.) But the character as he has been presented is an unapologetic bully, and that shit is (or should be) really hard to explain away.
