Even taking Hook's actions against his enemies out of the equation, you have things like him shoving the crippled old man that he thought Rum was, or hitting an already-captive woman who posed no threat to him.
He's pretty, sure. (Frankly, he's the only male on the show who I do think is hot.) But the character as he has been presented is an unapologetic bully, and that shit is (or should be) really hard to explain away.
