People call the little comments JMurph made queerbaiting but I think he was telling the truth while pretending to lie so that people didn't go "WHY DIDN'T YOU MAKE IT CANON DURING THE ACTUAL SHOOOOOOW??? AHJGFDSBGKFSBGHSDF."
There's no way you can watch that show and not believe that the writer shipped it, even if they did also ship other things.

I honestly have no problem with them never saying it. Almost every meaningful moment they had said they loved each other. Even from the early days. I've seen movies where a male/female canon pairing never said they loved each other, never kissed, never even touched intimately and it was beyond clear that they loved each other and were in love. So explicit stating never mattered for M/A,
