Really, though? I kind of think that Jared is maybe a little overrated, but I honestly think that Jensen's amazing. I think he plays broken very well (his emotional scenes are where he really shines, imo) and I think he has excellent comedic timing.

Im kind of with you on Jensen. If nothing else, I think hes a charismatic guy who treats acting fairly seriously.

Right? I think Jensen is a professional. He's been in this business for long enough, he knows what he's doing and it shows. And I don't think Jared's a bad actor. I just... I sort of think that Jensen is good all the time and Jared is good most of the time. It's just that there are some scenes where he's a little awkward.

But geez. Supernatural is still better acted than pretty much everything else on the CW (except Nikita - which is pretty well acted as well).

Have you read the LJ post Doris Egan wrote about Jensen's audition for Dark Angel? They were all absolutely floored, and Doris tried to get him on every show she wrote for after, but always just missed him because he signed with someone else first.

And I think Jared would not be quite as good if he hadn't had someone like Jensen to play off and learn from.

Re: Jared, I can't remember where but I remember reading something about Jensen having chemistry with inanimate objects, let alone actors he works with.

I think Jared's very good, but that Jensen is a bit better. But while I agree with you that Jensen excels at dramatic and emotional scenes, his sense of comedic timing and overall acting in comedic scenes can leave me cold - especially in ones like the dreaded "Pudding!" scene or similar ones. Ugh. It just triggers my embarrassment squick something fierce.

But Jared is amazing at comedic scenes and does this brilliant, understated style of humor that I love. The "I lost my shoe" bit sends me rolling every time. :D
