I think they're pretty equal on the belligerent butt thing. Which is annoying.

Yeah. Scott does use every opportunity to shove Derek into walls, threatens his friends, and chooses to murder first before questions and stuff. Yep.

Oh wait my mistake. Derek doesn't have friends.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-26 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
...And you seriously think Scott is any better? He fucking sent Derek to jail, TWICE, even though the first time the murdered party was CLEARLY NOT HUMAN (no questions asked!) and the second time he was CLEARLY INNOCENT.

And then there's Scott's constant "I'm not in your pack!" and "leave me alone!" and "I don't want anything to do with you but I want you to tell me everything and help me out when it's convenient for me!" bullshit.

If I were Derek I'd be treating the little shit badly, too.

Derek ain't a saint, but Scott isn't, either. And y'know, Derek's got a pretty good reason for being the way he is. What's Scott's excuse? Hormones?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-26 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
It's not like Scott's peaceful approach actually works, either. He was so adamant to keep Jackson alive, but what did that accomplish? Half the Sheriff's department got killed. Derek's plan would have been better in this case.

I think that both Derek and Scott can be complete dicks, and neither is better than the other.

Regarding Jackson Kanima Murder Times, neither Derek or Scott did that. That was Matt being the Butt Baron.

But if you really want to misplace responsibility, maybe Derek shouldn't have bitten Jackson in the first place.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-26 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
Mind, Jackson asked. Many, many, many, many, many times. Even after anyone else would have been scared off, he still came back.

I would have bitten him just to shut the idiot up.
cloud_riven: Close-up of an open-mouthed piglet! Is it recoiling? Or side-eyeing? Maybe saying, "HEY YOU TWO SHOULD KISS"? Mystery! (omg u dun say)

[personal profile] cloud_riven 2013-03-26 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I would not be surprised if that also factored into that wonderfully poor decision.

UHM the first time, Derek had half a body buried in his yard, I see no problem with Stiles and Scott reporting him to the police.

The second time, during Night School, Scott told everyone Derek was after them because he thought he was dead. Yeah, he wasn't but by the time they figured that out it was a little late to back out of that particular lie. But tbf I definitely understand Derek being pissed, hahaha.

And uh, I think it's pretty normal for Scott to not want to be in Derek's pack but still want him to give him info that could potentially save lives. I mean. If I hate a coworker and do my best to avoid them, I still expect them to tell me if the building's on fire.

But really, no one on this show is a saint. Maybe Sheriff Stilinski. :\a

Derek bullies and abuses his pack members. Why would Scott want himself or anyone he loves to be in his pack? Wanting to be left alone by that creep is 100% reasonable, imo.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-26 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Of course it's reasonable. But he shouldn't expect any help from him then either.

Yeah but Scott isn't the one pestering Derek for help. Derek's the one stalking Scott. Scott literally does not expect help from Derek because Derek is the most unhelpful character on the show.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-26 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you mean like the time Victoria tried to kill Scott and after Derek heard that, he just left Scott there to die? No, wait. That's just how and where I wish the show had ended. Never mind.

And calling Derek the most unhelpful character on the show is really ignoring Jackson badly.

You mean the one episode that they worked together in? When it was Scott and Stiles attempting to do the brunt of the work in that plan anyway? Yeah, that would've been an opportune time for Derek to let Scott die and then the kanima would've killed the entire town because Derek's incapable of not being a failure.

I had been ignoring Jackson. He is more unhelpful than Derek. But that isn't really saying much since Derek's supposed to be the alpha.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-26 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Scott's insistence at taking Jackson alive got quite a few people killed. If they had taken him out when they kidnapped him the first time instead of making out and letting him escape, it wouldn't have become such an issue to begin with. So they are both failures in that respect.

Dude I agree. Scott isn't faultless. He's a dreamer more than a realist - Stiles plays the realist in that regard. Killing Jackson and sacrificing one person would've saved a lot of people and I have no idea why he didn't do that (assuming they even would've been able to kill him), when he had been ready to kill Peter just for a cure. But you can't say that Allison is all Scott's worried about. Scott spent an entire episode in season one freaking out over the possibility of killing a bus driver. He's a kid. He fails at a lot of the heroing thing, but he is a kid. Derek's an adult, and this kid is being a better alpha than him. That's a problem. They both have their short comings but I really don't think the state of their relationship is Scott's fault.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-26 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, neither of them really bother to think properly about what they are doing. Derek pushes way too much when he should back off and since Scott doesn't want to be a werewolf, he lashes out even when he should listen.
