Looking for gen fandoms

I'm kind of tired of fandoms where all the fannish works are about pairings/romance. Is there a fandom out there that is known for having a strong gen fandom? Where works are more about canon type stories or adventures, or relationship fics where the building relationships are teams or friends?

Does anything like that exist or should I just keep digging for the rare stories buried under all the romantic pairs?

dunno if it's what you're looking, but I came across a Professor Layton kink meme the other day expecting to be shota everywhere, but most of the requests/fills were gen.

I'm sure that gen fandoms exist, but there's no guarantee you'd like those either. :/ I'd say just stick to digging, because frankly, "gen" is too broad of a category for us to be much help.

Fandoms with lots of dudes in them are pretty gen-heavy.

I can't think of any fandoms that are primarily gen, but if you just go to any big fandom archive (site or journal) you should be able to find substantial gen sections. I'm pretty sure you can specify gen in your searches at ff.net for example. Other than that, just searching for 'gen recs' in google comes up with heaps of results.

If you still can't find good fic, there are a lot of fandoms which have plenty of canon type stories or adventures, just with a sprinkling of romance or slash on top. Going through the 'case file' or 'action/adventure' tag at epic recs on lj might yield some fics that are low enough on the slash content to be palatable, for instance.
